Though they all perform the same vital important function, lighthouse styles are varied. They can be  pyramids, square, skeletal, conical or round, tall or short depending on their location. Round designs are often constructed from painted brick. The rare pyramid-shaped lighthouse can be built of wood or steel. Skeletal designs consist of a steel framework which provides little wind resistance. The square style usually consists of the tower being built into a keeper’s house which creates a square look.  But no matter what their style or shape, all agree that the lighthouse is an iconic symbol of coastal beauty.
